A Night of Thrill and Competition
Monday night saw the thrilling final for the men’s singles championship between David Leslie and Robbie Webb. The match began with David Leslie fully fired up, taking a commanding lead of 9-0 on the scoreboard.
As Robbie’s nerves began to settle, spectators witnessed the Robbie Webb they knew and admired, slowly making a comeback, end by end, point by point, creating a nail-biting atmosphere. The tension soared as David was holding 24/20 when Robbie skillfully placed three bowls on the Jack. However, David’s attempt to throw a wrong bias was soon corrected when he placed a bowl on the Jack, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
With one final shot at David’s bowls, Robbie narrowly missed by inches, causing the spectators’ heads to drop in disappointment. David, in a triumphant gesture, fist-pumped the air and began his celebration. The final score was 25/20 in favour of David Leslie.
Congratulations to David! As a new member who joined our club last year, you have undoubtedly been an asset. A heartfelt thank you to Robbie Webb for an excellent game. We also extend our gratitude to all members who attended last night to support the players; your presence was greatly appreciated.
